Pro Tips
- Oil-based floor finishes amber over time. If you want the wood to stay as close to its natural colour as possible (especially on light species like maple or ash), choose a water-based finish like Varathane Diamond instead.
- Sand between coats with 220-grit and vacuum thoroughly before applying the next coat. Dust nibs trapped in oil-based finish are very visible and cannot be corrected without re-sanding.
- Apply with a high-quality lambswool applicator for floor areas. Maintain a wet edge and work in the direction of the wood grain to avoid lap marks.
